SMART Recovery® Meetings are open to the public, and are usually 90 minutes long. The groups are relatively small, allowing for interactive discussion, and the practice of many specific methods and tools. The focus is on learning more about your problem and even more about how to; increase your motivation to abstain, handle urges without acting on them, develop new ways of coping with problems, and create a healthy, positive lifestyle. In other words to change to a better way of living life. You do not need to contact the facilitator or register prior to attending; you are welcome to just show up.
There are three simple ground rules:
We focus on recovery solutions with the intent to help participants use the SR program in a way that works best for them. Whatever works best is the best.

For those who wish to have more casual contact with members outside of the SMART Recovery® meetings there is a Facebook group open for such purposes. This group is a locked group for confidentiality reasons but if you wish to join contact Bill at firstname.lastname@example.org and he will give you further instructions.
SR doesn't suggest a lifetime commitment to meetings. People who are satisfied with the positive changes that they have made, and who can handle life's problems rationally, are encouraged to pursue their other goals, and to enjoy the real satisfaction that life offers. Of course SR is always here should you need extra support at any time.
